Blazers Analysis Hornets

PG

As good as our point guard play has been lately, there is no stopping the best in the league. Chris Paul continues to put up ridiculous numbers despite the struggles of his team. He's taken on more of a scoring role to go along with the ridiculous 11+ assists per game. Andre Miller will have a fine game at home, but CP3 will hit a home run.

PG

SG

With Brandon Roy expected to be out for at least a few more games, the Blazers will look to Rudy Fernandez and Jerryd Bayless to pick up the scoring for Portland tonight. I really like Bayless in this game and I think Rudy is good for at least a few threes. Devin Brown won't do much and James Posey is washed up, Blazers win this match-up.

SG

SF

Martell Webster has been phenomenal. I can't say it enough but he has stepped his game up, especially in Detroit on Saturday. Once again I like the Blazer in this match-up. With Brandon out, Martell will be LaMarcus' accomplice on offense. I like a nice inside and outside game from Martell against the slow and aging Peja Stojakovic.

SF

PF

David West is currently day-to-day with a sprained left ankle and right now I have no idea if he'll play. He and LaMarcus usually get into a pretty good battle, so it will be fun to see David out there, but either way I like LaMarcus here. Despite his love affair with the jumper, I think LA fares well all around in this game. Besides Okafor, there are really no real threats to defend him. LA will be stellar tonight.

PF

C

This is a tough one to call. Emeka Okafor has been very inconsistent lately. Which is much like the entire Hornets team. For whatever reason they are under achieving again this year. I think Juwan Howard and Jeff Pendergraph will be tough and scrappy, but Okafor and Armstrong will end up being the beneficiary of a ton of Chris Paul passes. I think the Okafor wins here.

Not that is matters in the least but Hilton Armstrong is on the Kings bench now. I don't know or care who the backup is, but I thought you may wish to fix that little error.

Thanks for letting me know, this is what happens when I try to do this way too fast. On a similar note regarding errors, check out who Yahoo! has as Okafor's back-up:

Now that is a versatile guard. So I looked it up. Listed is Sean Marks, but I doubt they will have any fear unleashing Ike Diogu upon us instead of Songaila or the ancient Aussie. Plus, I like Ike. This game just got more interesting. (Mainly because I think Juwan would destroy Collison in the postsmilies/wink.gif)

Yeah I saw that it was Marks, but he obviously doesn't play much.

To address comments up above, Ike Diogu has never suited up for the Hornets because he had season ending knee surgery. Too bad, I suspect he would've been good. Marks is just back from an injury & will probably get only light minutes at backup center. Posey usually plays the 4, and sometimes the 3. Marcus Thornton is most definitely the backup shooting guard, not SF. He's a gunner, pretty fast, and is NOT washed up. smilies/grin.gif

Sounds like I really blew it on the predictions for New Orleans. I guess I don't know the Hornets as well as I should.
