Blazers Analysis Heat

PG

The healthiest part about this Blazer team is the depth at point guard. Nobody is perfect but every guy should be able to contribute. Lucky for the Blazers, TJ Ford has a tendency to completely disappear. In two of his last 3 games he had literally zero points. So anyway, he's filling space like Steve Blake, for some reason both coaches keep them at the helm. Blazers win this match-up though.

SG

With Rudy Fernandez sidelined for the next 4-6 weeks, Brandon Roy will take on full shooting guard duties. He gets a familiar foe in Dahntay Jones. Jones defended Roy well while playing for Denver and I expect the same here. Fortunately I have faith in our best player and I see him putting up 25/5/5 in Indiana.

SF

Martell Webster has really struggled lately. He's had open shots, plenty of opportunities to succeed and just can't seem to get over the hump. With Danny Granger sidelined, Mike Dunleavy will be one of the focal points of this offense. Dunleavy is working his way back from yet another injury and Granger's absence should give Dunleavy plenty of opportunity. When Michael is healthy, he is a tremendous player, he'll win this tonight.

PF

It's tough for me to see LaMarcus Aldridge succeeding on the road against a physical opponent. As always, Troy Murphy will work the boards, shoot threes, and continue to progress here early in the season. But LaMarcus needs to win this match-up. He's been taking ugly, ill-advised shots lately and it's hurting the entire offense. LA will get plenty of playing time and he better make the most of it.

C

The Blazers are so thin down low right now, it's hard to imagine Joel getting the best of anyone. Especially now that he has to watch his fouls. He shouldn't get bad calls against him, but Roy Hibbert and Jeff Foster will physically be a tough match-up for Prz. I like the intangibles of Joel, but the lack of offense makes me choose the Pacers. Expect Wheels to say "If Jeff Foster played every game against the Blazers, he'd be an all-star".
