Magic 109, Blazers 108: Buzzkill

It was amazing how quickly I went from being overjoyed at a great 2nd half led by huge games from Roy and Aldridge, big contributions off the bench from Rudy, Sergio, and Joel, and what appeared to be a great crowd, to wanting to throw up and rip my TV off the wall. The Blazers took control of that game, but then lost control in the last 2 minutes, with the Magic ending on a 9-0 run from a barrage of 3 pointers. We've had such good luck this year at the end of games, that we had to be due for a let down. Last night was that let down. Hopefully we got karma back into balance with their bank-in game winner. I don't even think you called "bank", did you Hedo? I'm ready to move on to tomorrow's game with Utah. It would be a huge boost to get things back on track vs our top division rival.
Blowing 8 point lead in last 2 minutes Roy 30 pts, 9 rebs, 5 assists, 2 blocks

Magic 11-20 on 3's in the 2nd half

LaMarcus stepping up big time (25 pts, 13 rebs, 2 steal, 2 blks)

Awful ending for a great crowd

Sergio! 14 points, 7 assists, 0 turnovers

First home loss :(

Spanish Connection! 2 more alley-oops

Batum's last 5 games...3 points

Bench Play (4 in double figure scoring)

Oden's early foul trouble against Superman

Joel playing DHoward very tough

I felt physically ill after that shot went in. I know that we've had some serious luck at home - San Antonio missed a gimme buzzer beater, Roy's prayer against Houston, Sacramento - but it doesn't make this any easier to swallow. I suppose it's better to lose on a fluke, bank-in three pointer than to get flat out embarrassed, but still...

Incredible game. Everyone stepped up and played tough. This was Portland playing Portland basketball.

Tough loss.

My thoughts exactly. I was of the feeling that this might have been their best performance of the year the way everyone was contributing and hitting clutch shot after clutch shot. The Garden was on fire, on our way to 8-0, solidifying that no.4 ranking...everything was perfect. ugggh....

Well...I hope the Blazers are stronger mentally than I am because i'm still not feeling good about things. The only cure is a road win at Utah. And that's going to be tough.

ARRRRRRRRRRRHHHHHHHHGGGHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!

Oden looked fantastic last night....a natural.....at least he didn't get rejected/stripped

Tough loss, went from great game to what the F just happened. But I now understand why Superman dressed up as B Roy for Halloween this year, he was on a different level last night. My boy Pryz played great, not letting Howard establish low position on the block and not letting him dominate the boards. Oden on the other hand, looked like a lost child last night. No defense, no offense, not much of anything, but the one up side of all that is we were still in the game. I don't like our last shot, where was the help??? But we have been lucky many times this year in those type of situations, so maybe we were due. Hopefully we can learn from this and make sure that we finish the games strong. A win in Utah will get us back on the right track.

Outlaw was suppose to cut to the basket on the desperation Roy 3. Travis didnt and Nate let him know about it. Travis is a piece of garbage and I want him GONE. Im sick of him.

As angry as I am, and how much I dislike Turkoglu, I have to blame the whole team for letting the lead get away at the end. There is really no excuse for that.

Then, with 5 seconds left and we were up 2, I was really worried. I knew something ridiculous was going to happen and it did.

PS from now on, no one can get mad at me for picking against Steve Blake, he has his best games when I pick against him. Last night however, the munchkin Jameer Nelson lit us up.

I agree Bowerz, I'm afraid it's time. He makes 2-3 bonehead plays every game and it's costing us now.

I couldn't agree with both of you guys more. I'm glad I'm not alone at this. It seems like every night this season I've had multiple moments where I just wanted to scream obscenities at the TV.. Outlaw needs to be gone in a major way. We have plenty of talent at the SF position, and when Webster is finally back, those minutes could be used up by him and Rudy. Lets hope he starts playing a little better so we continue to win, and at the same time he ups his value for when we do trade him. I don't see the Blazers keeping him past the end of this season, overall he's just not a good fit for the team.
